Edyta Hul – visual artist based in Warsaw, Poland. Born in 1986, Dobre Miasto, Warmia, Poland. Graduated in 2012 at the Painting Department, Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk.
About paintings/Statement:
In this world, everything is entangled: aquatic form, vegetation, structure, ‘something’ never before categorised. The painterly entanglements touch on fundamental matters of survival – nourishment, disappearance, extinction, dimming. The entanglements and cover-ups create a multifaceted structure that is created slowly and relies on keeping the thin layers of paint applied one after the other in harmony. I try to achieve the impression of a lack of heaviness while maintaining the transparency of these layers. The only ‘essential remains to be discovered beyond the boundaries of the self’” . Even the bottom of the painting is supposed to be in a state of suspension, without hierarchy. These damp membranes persist but are not fully materialised; they remain in constant superposition, in a state of overflow between truth and fantasy. These states persist in constant and damp communication. The transparencies of the layers set off an interferential dance of random transmission in a self-forming drawing of ‘something’ never before formed.
